A multi-scale, multi-layer, translucent virtual space

چکیده
The dynamic nature of virtual display spaces can provide powerful tools for helping people comprehend phenomena that occur over widely disparate spatial scales. This paper presents the macroscope, an interactive technique for browsing very large spaces of displayed information at different scales. The macroscope takes as a point of departure the traditional 2D zoom and pan operations, but introduces multiple translucent layers to avoid the problem of losing visual context. The third dimension is used to visually separate the layers and provide an external point of view for controlling the presentation. The user can manipulate viewfinders in the virtual space, which control the relative scale and position of the layers. The macroscope: translucent zooming and panning Let's start by analyzing a typical zooming operation. The user can choose a smaller subset of the screen [with the same aspect ratio], which we will call the viewfinder. The zooming operation blows up the viewfinder to fill the entire image. A zoom out operation does the inverse transformation. A Multi-Scale, Multi-Layer, Translucent Virtual Space

Efficient Rendering of Human Skin
Existing offline techniques for modeling subsurface scattering effects in multi-layered translucent materials such as human skin achieve remarkable realism, but require seconds or minutes to generate an image. We demonstrate rendering of multi-layer skin that achieves similar visual quality but runs orders of magnitude faster. We show that sums of Gaussians provide an accurate approximation of ...
متن کاملNew full adders using multi-layer perceptron network
How to reconfigure a logic gate for a variety of functions is an interesting topic. In this paper, a different method of designing logic gates are proposed. Initially, due to the training ability of the multilayer perceptron neural network, it was used to create a new type of logic and full adder gates. In this method, the perceptron network was trained and then tested. This network was 100% ac...
متن کاملA Study of Multi-Representation of Geometry Problem Solving with Virtual Manipulatives and Whiteboard System
In this paper, the development of an innovative Virtual Manipulatives and Whiteboard (VMW) system is described. The VMW system allowed users to manipulate virtual objects in 3D space and find clues to solve geometry problems. To assist with multi-representation transformation, translucent multimedia whiteboards were used to provide a virtual 3D space in which users could express their mathemati...
متن کاملAugmenting Interactive Tabletops with Translucent Tangible Controls
Multi-touch surfaces enable multi-hand and multi-person direct manipulation interfaces. However, they lack haptic feedback. Tangible interfaces (TUIs) are a promising approach to this issue but most are special-purpose with fixed physical and visual appearance. This chapter provides an overview of recent work to add haptic feedback to interactive surfaces, including haptic and tactile displays,...
متن کاملA TS Fuzzy Model Derived from a Typical Multi-Layer Perceptron
In this paper, we introduce a Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model which is derived from a typical Multi-Layer Perceptron Neural Network (MLP NN). At first, it is shown that the considered MLP NN can be interpreted as a variety of TS fuzzy model. It is discussed that the utilized Membership Function (MF) in such TS fuzzy model, despite its flexible structure, has some major restrictions. After modify...
